On this project, we were pleased to find that the majority of the preparation work had already been completed by the client, who had installed high-quality edgings and prepared a solid sub-base foundation. Our team added an extra 4 tonnes of MOT Type 1 sub-base to adjust the levels before laying the 2-course macadam surfacing. We installed an AC20 binder course at a depth of 60mm, followed by a 6mm Cemex ViaDrive surface course at 25-30mm. This driveway-specific surface course is designed for longevity, and with the material delivered hot and on time, our operatives were able to achieve a flawless finish.

Jordans, Chalfont St Giles
This was a typical driveway overlay project. Before starting, we ensured the existing surface was in solid condition, removing any cracked or damaged areas. At the kerbs, edgings, and drainage or service boxes, we removed the existing surface course to allow for a neat and flush tie-in with the surrounding areas. After preparation, we regulated the low areas and laid a 25-30mm layer of new surface course, using a driveway-specific product to ensure the best finish and longevity.
Evenley, Brackley, Northants
This project required extensive preparation as the client wanted to extend their driveway onto a large grass area. Excavating the grass to the correct depth for the sub-base, binder, and surface course macadam was necessary. We also installed edgings around the new perimeter. This step can be time-consuming, but it’s essential for achieving correct drainage levels and a smooth tie-in with the existing driveway. Once complete, we laid a new binder course, regulated the existing concrete drive, and finished with a specialised surface course, giving the client a beautiful, extended driveway.
New Bradwell, Nr Wolverton, Bucks
This driveway renovation was completed just before a summer heatwave, where local temperatures reached 38 degrees. The extreme heat posed a real challenge for our operatives, but they did a fantastic job of preparing and overlaying this sloped driveway. After installing the new surface course, we advised the client to wait a couple of extra days to allow the surface to cure before using the driveway. Despite the heat, the specialist Viadrive surface course from Cemex held up perfectly, and the final result is a testament to our team’s skill and the high-quality materials used.
